ABG Seal Order

Advertising on public transport is an attractive and high-impact form of advertising with a long tradition. Applying adhesive films to vehicle windows has been part of transport advertising for around 20 years and allows for a significant expansion of the advertising surface. However, vehicle windows are subject to certain safety regulations, which is why the use of self-adhesive films is regulated by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). Only approved films may be applied to vehicle windows – these are assigned a so-called ABG number. To indicate that an approved film has been used – and to make it visible to the police and TÜV – a sequentially numbered approval seal must be applied to the window. Using unapproved films on vehicle windows will result in the loss of the vehicle’s operating license.

Therefore, only use approved films (or film combinations) and obtain the corresponding seals here.

The KBA stipulates that the holder of the General Type Approval (ABG) must provide the approval seals directly to the representative responsible for transport advertising, excluding intermediaries. The seals are provided free of charge if the following conditions are met:

• The film or film combination approved by the KBA has been purchased and can be verified by the KBA if required
• The film is applied in accordance with the installation instructions
• The seals are used strictly according to the regulations (one seal per window)
• The installer keeps records of the seals used in combination with the vehicle and can provide information to the KBA upon request

A flat rate of 50 seals is issued per linear meter of film.
If higher usage is justified, the number of seals can be increased.
