NovaWeld SignFix 5 – Crystal-Clear 2-Component Structural Adhesive for Professional Bonding

NovaWeld SignFix 5 is a high-performance, crystal-clear 2-component structural adhesive based on methacrylate technology. It is designed for high-strength, durable bonding of a wide range of plastics, metals and composites and is particularly suitable for applications where both structural strength and a visually discreet bond line are required.

One of its key applications is the manufacture of built-up, 3D and illuminated letters. SignFix 5 reliably bonds transparent acrylic faces to components made from materials such as aluminium or stainless steel. Its crystal-clear appearance helps minimise visible bond lines and unwanted shadows in illuminated constructions.

SignFix 5 combines high strength with a degree of flexibility, making it particularly suitable for bonding dissimilar materials. This is especially beneficial when joining acrylic to metal, where differences in thermal expansion need to be accommodated.

The adhesive provides excellent adhesion to a wide variety of commonly used substrates, including acrylic, PVC, ABS, aluminium, stainless steel, carbon fibre, FRP/GRP, polyester, styrenics, gelcoats and urethanes.

With a working time of approximately 1–2 minutes and a fixture time of approximately 3–4 minutes, SignFix 5 supports fast and efficient production processes. The recommended bond line thickness is approximately 0.6–0.8 mm, while gaps of approximately 1–3 mm can be filled.

Once cured, the adhesive provides high mechanical strength as well as excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of substances, including hydrocarbon solvents, acids and alkalis within a range of pH 3–10. The specified operating temperature range is –50 °C to +120 °C.
